The history of the Church standard for Paris early XX century: the rapid economic development of blocks South from the Eiffel tower and rapid population growth required the construction of the temple. The design of the building in the Romanesque style was designed by architect Emile Brunet. He used the materials that will drastically speed up construction and reduce its cost: concrete and brick. The lion I was able to approve the special status of the Pope, directly following from the words of Christ said the first Bishop of Rome, the Apostle Peter: "...Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." The Saint possessed of rare personal courage: in 452 he personally came out to meet the leader of the Huns Attila and persuaded not to destroy Rome. Three years later, the Pope repeated the feat, having met with the leader of the vandals by Gaiseric, he entered the Eternal city, but not betrayed him with fire and sword. Leo I the Great was the first Pope, who was buried in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

Vivid and harmonious appearance of the Church of Saint-léon make her worthy patron. Mosaic pediment depicts the Holy Lion.
