Probably nowhere in the world there is no more area in which there are three monument close relatives. And in Paris there is one. It bears the name of General Katra, but could be called the area of the three Dumas there stand monuments to writers Dumas-Dumas father and of the son and of the oldest – father father – General Dumas. They do not hover nearby, the area is very large, it is actually an intersection of two avenues. Monuments stand on the lawns around the intersection. Alexander Dumas looks very picturesque. This monument, opened in 1883, is the last work of Gustave Dore. On a high pedestal is in the chair the author of "the Three Musketeers" with a satisfied smile on his lips, a pen in his hand. Downstairs on one side of the pedestal sits a motley company – barefoot working, young intellectuals and girl reading them aloud book Dumas. On the other hand on the pedestal sits in defiant posture and with a drawn sword the protagonist of Alexandre Dumas – d'artagnan.

The monument to Alexander Dumas son was erected in 1906 on the other side of the square. The sculptor rené de Saint-Marceau presented playwright who reflect on the manuscript with pen in hand. Father and son immortalized here not by accident, they lived near his father on the Boulevard Malesherbes, a son – on the Avenue Villiers.

The statue of the elder, General Dumas, was erected on the square in 1913, after a long campaign waged by Anatole France and Sarah Bernhardt. The General was truly an outstanding person. The white son of a nobleman and a black slave, one of the key figures of the French revolution, not afraid to protect the innocent in the days of terror, the commander of Napoleon's army, a man of great physical strength and courage, he made a lot of feats of war and was a legend of his time. After the Egyptian expedition he was taken prisoner in the Kingdom of Naples and was thrown into prison, where they languished for two years Napoleon was in no hurry to rescue their tall, showy and daring General. In prison, the prisoner broke down in health, and after his return to France he lived only five years. The life of the elder Dumas subsequently inspired adored his son on many subjects.

Monument to General was destroyed by the Germans during the occupation. It was not reconstructed, but in 2009 a new set, work Driss San Aside: huge shackles with broken chains.
