The building on the street Káptalan, 2 were recorded in 1324. In 1476 there was opened the first public library in Hungary. During the Turkish occupation in this house was the official residence of the Turkish Imam. Restoration works in the building was conducted in the period between the years 1954 and 1955. Today in the old residential building of pécs is the Zsolnay ceramics Museum
Decorative pottery made by the Zsolnay factory was unique for its artistic designs and production technologies. Zsolnay became internationally famous thanks to specially glazed ceramics, which experts factory called eosin (from the Greek word for "dawn"). The Zsolnay factory in pécs was established in 1853 by Miklos Golnam, but the glory janauskas ceramics brought his son Vilmos, Zolnai, who ran the manufacturing right up until his death in 1900.
