About 10 km South-East of the Greek city of Tripoli (Arcadia) is a small modern village of Alea. In ancient times, in its place was the Ancient Tegea is an important economic, political and religious center of the Peloponnese.

It is in Tegea was one of the oldest and largest temples dedicated to the goddess Athena, the temple of Athena Alley. According to tradition, the original temple was built by the founder of the society of king Aleem. In 395 BC, during the conflagration of the temple was almost destroyed, but in 365 BC, under the guidance of renowned Greek architect and sculptor of the Skopos was built a new Church, which size and grandeur far exceeded the other Peloponnesian temples. The sanctuary of the goddess Alley was built in the Doric style and is surrounded by a triple near the colon. The walls were decorated with Corinthian pilasters. The sculptural decoration of the Church was mostly completed by the Skopos.

Unfortunately, all that is left from the once mighty Society and the majestic temple of Athena Alley remained only ruins, which is an important historical and archaeological monument. Next to the ruins of the ancient temple there is a small Archaeological Museum.
