Cathedral of the Holy Martyr Barbara in Pinsk – the part of the former Bernardine monastery, built in 1705 for the Duke Michael Vyshnevetsky and his wife Catherine.

In 1717, was built a wooden monastery for the Bernardines, which consisted of the Church of the Archangel Michael. The monastery prospered and grew rapidly. It appeared dwellings for the monks, outbuildings, was buried in the monastery of beautiful Apple orchards had been taking care of hard-working monks. In 1770, was built a new stone Church. His consecration took place on 13 January 1787.

After the transfer of the Belarusian lands in the Russian Empire after the failure of the national liberation uprisings, Catholic monasteries and churches were closed. In 1864 the Church of the Archangel Michael, transferred to the Orthodox community, was rebuilt. Over it was built the dome, also changed the interior. The Church was consecrated in honor of the Holy Martyr Barbara.

In our time, St. Barbara's Church became the Cathedral. It is Orthodox Shrine of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Hodegetria of Jerusalem." Also in the temple is the icon of St. Barbara with particles of relics.

When Varvara Church in Pinsk operates Orthodox youth center dedicated to education and upbringing of the younger generation. Organized there is also a Sunday school, operates Orthodox library.

At the Cathedral of St. Barbara organized the Orthodox Sisterhood in honor of the Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth. The sisters care for the sick in cancer and drug treatment centers. Recently they have made the device a prayer room in a correctional facility.
