Franciscan Church of the assumption of the virgin Mary was built in Pinsk in 1396. Franciscan friars arrived in Pinsk at the invitation of the Prince of Pinsk, Turov and Starodub Sigmund Kęstutaitis. He helped the Franciscans to build a temple in gratitude and remembrance of your baptism.

In 1510 wooden Church was demolished and in its place the Franciscans built a stone. And Pinsk, the Church burned down several times and collapsed. Survived the war and destruction, poverty and wealth. Residents of Pinsk loved this beautiful ornate Church, so every time was money and effort to restore.

An interesting feature of the Franciscan Church in Pinsk, is that during its construction were used parts of other buildings.

Its current building was built during the reconstruction produced in 1712-1730 years. The Church has a magnificent interior decoration with carved statues, stucco architectural details and beautiful frescoes. However, the main advantage of the Church of the assumption of the virgin Mary – his carved and gilded pulpit with seventy sculptures depicting apostles, saints and biblical scenes.

Body specifically for the Franciscan Church of the assumption in Pinsk built Adalbert Grodnitskaya from Vilna. He created a unique sounding instrument due 1498 pipes of wood and metal. No such body exists nowhere else in the world.

In the assumption Church is a unique fresco – Pinsk Madonna, which was written by Alfred Romer. Currently the Church is valid. The entrance to it is open for tourists who can admire its splendor and enjoy the wonderful sound of the Church organ.
