APO island is a small volcanic island with an area of 12 ha 30 km from Dumaguete city and 7 km from the southeastern tip of Negros island. It resides only about a thousand people.

The island, which is part of the marine Park, long gained popularity among divers and became one of the most popular dive sites in the world. In 2008, the authoritative magazine "Sport Diver Magazine" has named APO in the top 100 most popular dive sites in the world. Its southern, Northern and Eastern shores are famous for their vast underwater walls extending to a greater depth and abundance of exotic species.
