Historical Museum of Perushtitsa is located in the historical part of the city, opposite the national house of culture (“chitalishte”). It was founded in 1955 with the goal of preserving the history of this settlement.

The Museum introduces visitors to the history of the development of this area, some of the exhibits date from the early sixth century BC, Clothing, tools, ornaments and vessels exhibited here give an insight into the life and culture of people who inhabited this area in different historical periods.

A special mention is the exhibition devoted to the period of the liberation of Bulgaria from the Turks. The Museum presents the form of the rebels who participated in the uprising of 1876, the gun that belonged to the hero of the liberation movement Save Genova and painting by D. Dobreva, depicting the defence of Perushtitsa.

The Church of the Holy Archangels Gabriel and Michael is part of the Museum of Perushtitsa and significant in that it is about her during the uprising of 1876 was the most brutal battles of the inhabitants of the city against the Turks.

The Church was built in 1847-1848 he craftsmen from the town of Bratsigovo. On the Eastern wall of the temple in memory of the tragic events of that time are carved the names of the characters, and in a stone sarcophagus holds the bones of the rebels.

On the hill Vlasenica installed awe-inspiring proportions Monument is dedicated to the three generations. It is erected in memory of those who died for the independence of Bulgaria in April 1876. From the hill on which the monument is located, offering stunning views of the Rhodope mountains.
