Himself the Imperial house consists of two ancient mansions, merged into one as a result of the reconstruction carried out in 1604-1607, architect J. M. Filippi. The initials of the architect can be seen on one of the portals of the building. On the second portal embossed date "1793". One of the houses that are part of the Imperial residence, was built in the mid XVI century by the architect Giovanni di Hospital, the second was erected at a later date. The facade is decorated with the figure of Roland, holding a halberd. However, presence called the hero of Zumbera. This is the name that can be read at his feet. The statue of the knight was mounted on a mansion in the middle of the XIX century. Previously, she was decorated with a Renaissance fountain in the Market square.

Two mansions on the Market square were bought by Emperor Rudolf II in 1599. Then the entire Royal court was forced to move to Pilsen, fleeing from the scourge of the middle Ages – the plague. As the city was not a castle worthy of the Emperor, the ruler of the Czech Republic was forced to purchase several noble houses and remodel them into one. The Emperor held in Pilsen 9 months, and then left the city due to the outbreak of the same plague. Since those times in one of the halls of the Imperial house are preserved wall paintings.
