The popularity of Vladimir Vysotsky extends far beyond the former Soviet republics. A number of cities in which the composer, performer and actor ever attended a concert or performance, also immortalized this remarkable fact in its history with a plaque or monument to Vysotsky. Not spared this kind of cultural-historical tradition and in Montenegro, where Vladimir Semenovich visited twice: in 1974, in the film, and in 1975 his trip to Montenegro was associated with performances at the Taganka theatre. It is worth noting that in the 70 years of the twentieth century Podgorica was still the Yugoslav Titograd.
The monument to Vladimir Vysotsky was inaugurated in 2004. It is situated at the banks of the river Moraca, there are two bridges – the Moscow and the Millennium. At the opening of the monument was attended by Nikita Vysotsky, the son of the singer and Miomir Magasin, the mayor of Podgorica.
The author of the five-meter sculpture – Alexander Taratynov, which, incidentally, also specially commissioned by the Montenegrin authorities created in Podgorica the monument to Pushkin. The artist depicted Vysotsky with a guitar in his hands, without which, perhaps, it is impossible to imagine.
At a memorable compositions on closer examination you can read carved in two languages, the inscription, which is a big part of Vysotsky's poem, which the poet dedicated Montenegro. From all of the text for the monument was chosen a poem that best reveals the attitude of Vladimir Semenovich to Montenegrin earth:
I little one birth,
Grow me two roots...
Sorry, Montenegro did not become
Second my homeland.
