The Millennium bridge (the Millennium) was built in Podgorica and opened in early July 2005. 13 July in Montenegro, just celebrated statehood Day, and the bridge became a gift to all citizens.

The cost of a Grand suspension bridge cost the city budget of 7 million euros. The author of the project – Medlen Ilicevic, who is a Professor of civil engineering. The length of the bridge is 140 metres (from one end to the other length is equal to 173 meters), width – 24 meters, and the height of the pole above the road – almost 60 meters; also in the construction were involved in 12 of cables and counterweight 24.

This unusual and unique bridge has not only a decorative function. In practical terms it connects the Central part of Podgorica, namely, the Boulevard of Ivan Crnojevic, the street of the new city – July 13, and passes over the river Moraca.

The design of the Millennium bridge marks the entrance of a small conservative Montenegro in the XXI century, where in the first place stands the technological progress. The bridge fits well into the overall appearance of the city and since its opening has become deservedly popular tourist destination.

In the immediate vicinity of the Millennium bridge are also two more attractions in Podgorica: bridge Moscow-Podgorica (pedestrian), and the monument to the Soviet poet, composer and actor Vladimir Vysotsky.
