One of the most interesting and popular attractions of the beautiful Greek island of Rhodes is undoubtedly a unique Museum of honey and beekeeping, located in the small village of Pastida. This is the only Museum of its kind in Greece.
The Museum was founded by the company Melissokomiki Dodecanesou, which is the largest producer of honey and other bee products in the Islands of the Dodecanese. The products of this company are known throughout the country and is of high quality, which is carefully controlled.
The exhibits at the Museum, perfectly illustrates the history of the development of beekeeping on the island of Rhodes, which goes back more than two centuries. Here you can see an excellent collection of special tools and equipment beekeepers, to get acquainted with ancient and modern methods of all processes for the production of honey, beeswax, propolis, Royal jelly, etc., and watch the magical world of bees through the glass walls of the hives and learn many interesting things about their lives. By appointment you can visit the current production. Tour the Museum holds both group and individual.
On site facilities include a cosy lounge area with a great Playground. Definitely worth a stroll through the picturesque bee garden.
After a very informative tour you can purchase in the company store of excellent quality honey, pollen, Royal jelly, wax, traditional sweets melekouni, and various beauty products (Soaps, gels, shampoos, etc.) on the basis of honey.
