Armenian Surb Karapet Church is located in Rostov-on-don, street Chentsova, 57, in the Armenian cemetery. Religious building belongs to the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The Church was founded in 1875 and was built almost 6 years. Presumably was designed by local architect V. V. Sazonov. There is an opinion that the author of the project was V. Azerbaican from St. Petersburg Academy of arts. Supervised the construction of the I. E. Patronov. He and V. V. Sazonov, according to the great Martiros Saryan, is credited with the authorship of the design sketches of the temple of red brick, decorated with white stone. Funds for the construction were allocated under the will of local philanthropist noblewoman Akulina Aladjalova (A. P. Alajlan), who died in 1871. In the will were also required to build an almshouse and poorhouse at the Church, which was done. After the consecration in 1881 the Church, named St. John the Baptist or St. Karapet, ashes philanthropist of the A. P. Aladjalova (nee Hatran) buried at the South-West of the Church wall in the Armenian necropolis of XIX-XX centuries.

Surb Karapet Church is a unique structure in ancient Armenian style. Inside the temple was decorated with medallions of white stone and painted by artist A. A. Artsatpanyana. From the paintings of great artistic value, have been preserved in their original form, "SV. John the Baptist" and "assumption".

From 1938 to 1941 the Church was closed. Today it is a functioning Church, a monument of local significance under state protection.
