Apartment building in Ruse – an architectural monument, located directly in the city center, near the monument of Freedom. The original building was built for renting rooms and halls for hire for visiting theatrical troupes, raised him in the period from 1898 to 1902,. The architectural design belongs to the master from Hungary Paul Branco.
It is known that during the construction of the apartment building active participation in the works also were the residents of Ruse. However, the construction of the building was never completed because the estimated costs with increased every month, and the Bank refused a large sum of money loaned. Thus, the planned completion of apartment houses because of lack of money did not take place.
The name is "profitable building" – was taken by the city administration, based on the idea that the building will bring revenue to the Treasury due to the hiring and rental of premises touring theatrical groups, and it was assumed that some of the rooms will be equipped with a library, shops and even a casino.
The facade of the building designed in a neoclassical style, decorated with all sorts of luxury features stucco sculptures. The upper part of the building is crowned by a statue of a little winged mercury.
