Bulgarian town of Ruse, situated on the banks of the Danube, named "Little Vienna" is not accidental. Buildings of the late 19th century, characterized by skilled exterior and interior finishing, built by the best European architects – German, Italian and Bulgarian. Today Ruse is an important economic and industrial center, living an active cultural life, which is part of the city art gallery.
The gallery celebrated its 80 anniversary. It was established by order of the mayor of Ruse Jordana Pavlova in 1933 after the request addressed to him the technical artists. Their first joint exhibition, which was organized a little earlier in the same year, was a great success, and painters decided that Ruse needs to create a permanent gallery or art Museum.
The first gallery is posted in House printing and art, and three years after its creation, it was moved to the library in Ruse town hall is placed in Danilova house – a beautiful building in the city center. The Foundation of the gallery gradually expanded year after year, and in 1979, a separate building was built, where the gallery was located on an area of about 2800 square meters.
