Museum "the Breakthrough of the blockade of Leningrad" opened on may 7, 1985. It is a diorama, which is devoted to a crucial stage in the battle for Leningrad – operation "Iskra".

More than three years of Leningrad artists – K. G. Montanino, J. A. Garik, B. V. Kotick, N. M. Kutuzov, L. V. Kubacek, V. I. Seleznev, F. V. Savostyanov worked on the creation of artistic and documentary paintings. Subject plan has been prepared by a group of modelers (head V. D. Zaytsev). Many of the authors of the paintings themselves participated in the defense of Leningrad.

In multidimensional canvas dimensions 40 x 8 x 6 m for the first time embodied the events of the week bloody and fierce fighting, which lasted from 12 to 18 January 1943. The General idea of the operation was to ensure that, using counter attacks two fronts – Volkhov and Leningrad from the East and West respectively – to break up a group of troops that held Shlisselburg-Sinyavino the ledge. Commanded fronts Lieutenant General L. A. Govorov and General of the army K. A. Meretskov. Coordination of interaction of representatives of the Bet was engaged Marshal Voroshilov and General of the army G. K. Zhukov.

Panorama of the ledge opens from the observation deck. Its depth does not exceed 16 km at the Museum you find yourself in the heart of the action: on the right Bank of the Neva. From here on 12 January 1943 67-army of the Leningrad front under the command of General M. P. Dukanova went on the offensive. She rushed forward at the same time the 2nd Shock and 8th army of the Volkhov front, which led the generals Romanovsky, V. Z. and F. N. Elderly respectively.

In the foreground on the left of the diorama presents the events of the first hours of the battle, when it starts artillery preparation, and a brass band accompanies the first echelon rifle divisions into the battle.

On the left flank – in flames Shlisselburg. In heavy fighting for his release, along with battalions of the 86th infantry division under the command of V. A. Trubachev, also attended the advocates of "Hard".

In the center of the diorama – the main impact in the area of the village of Marino subdivision 136-th infantry division under the command of N. P. Simonyak boost Neva. Here are events from the third day of operation, when the crossings from wood and ice across the river crossed 220-nd and 152-th tank brigade. The place where the main terminal was built Ladoga bridge, in the left-Bank ramp is a Museum diorama.

In the North of the second Working town (today the city of Kirovsk) – on the right flank of the offensive rapid counterattack the Germans reflects 268-th rifle division under the command of Colonel S. N. Borschev. In the background is the famous Nevsky Pyatachok – out shelves 45th guards division under the command of General A. A. Krasnov make constant attempts to storm the 8th GRES.

In the background in the center of the diorama – meeting scene attacking forces of the Leningrad and Volkhov fronts, which took place on the 18th January 1943 in the First and Fifth Working settlements. The blockade was finally broken.

Liberated from the invaders of the territory was the railroad Glade – Shlisselburg with the bridge across the river. "The road of Victory" (so named it in the people) allowed to save forces for the subsequent liberation of Leningrad land from fascist invaders in January 1944.

The uniqueness and originality of the first Leningrad diorama in that it reflects the events of all seven days of breaking the siege at the same time. Special the spatial depth of the image allows the viewer to follow the developments along the line of break. Subject plan, which fills six meters in depth from the viewing platform of the scenic image, strengthens the "presence effect". A group of modelers have reproduced this terrain, which pitted with bomb craters and shells, fragments of engineering structures completed in full size.

Before the new Museum was held painstaking archival research work. To obtain a comprehensive picture of the battle were used photos and footage, as well as memories of those events. Great help was provided by the scientific consultants: candidate of historical Sciences V. P. Zaitsev, participants break the blockade by retired colonels D. K. Jereboam and I. Solomahinym.
