Temple ensemble of red square, Dating to the XVIII-XIX centuries, is located in Shlisselburg. It consists of the Annunciation Cathedral, St. Nicholas Church and the Kazan chapel. In 1995 the decree of the RF President B. N. Yeltsin this complex was assigned to the objects of cultural heritage of Federal (all-Russian) value.
On the site of the present stone Cathedral of the Annunciation was a wooden Church built in 1702 by order of the Emperor Peter I. the Building stood for about two decades, and was demolished in 1725. A new wooden Church was built in 1728, but it burned down in 1756. In place of a wooden Church in 1764, built a new stone building of the temple at the expense of patrons Sibilev and Belov, who were later buried here. In 1778 to the temple, a bell tower was added. During the Second World war the Church was seriously damaged, was completely destroyed the roof and spire of the bell tower.
In 1935 the Annunciation Church was closed and its parishioners. It was adapted to the economic needs. In the period from 1941 to 1943 it was a place of worship, but the Church was returned to believers. Only in 1990 it happened. Since 1991 in the Annunciation Cathedral of the regular services have been conducted and the restoration work that is not completed to date.
Near the Cathedral is the Church in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Originally on the site of the present Church in 1737-1739, there was built a wooden Church, which, based on information from the chronicle, was moved to the village Hawser. However, at this point in 1770 was built stone building, which survived up to the present time.
Worship services in the Church were held until 1933. Then the state took her away from the believers, and the Church is being used for another purpose. In 1995 it was returned to the Orthodox. The Church was restored, renovated, and here began to hold regular services.
Currently the Church of St. Nicholas is in excellent condition. The building is white-blue colours, the walls are plastered, white pillars decorated with stucco. Roof, drum, dome and domes decorated with galvanized sheet iron. The domes are made in the shape of the bulb, painted in blue tone.
Chapel of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God was built in 1864. Re-consecrated in 1989. Currently acting. Services are under the special schedule.
