The rožmberk family was a very wealthy and influential in his property were vast tracts of land in southern Bohemia, where they were built about a dozen luxury residences. One of these castles is located right on the border with Austria, in the town of Nove Gradi. This Gothic Palace, initially owned by Vitkovice appeared in the inaccessible area next to the river Stropnice in the XIII century. Castle Nove Gradi was the center of the Novohradské nobility, composed of cities and towns, large hunting areas, several ponds, rich in fish, mills, fields, farm growing hops.
In 1359 and the castle and all the lands in his district bought Rozmberk who owned it until 1611, when he died last representative of that glorious kind.
The castle burned down several times in 1425 1467 and years. The cause of fire was not negligence, and the attack of the enemy. Gradually, however, the Palace was restored, with special attention during the reconstruction was paid to his defensive system. The castle appeared in three towers, tower and the input received additional protection.
But the misery that haunted castle Nove Gradi, did not end there: once in the powder magazine, was struck by lightning, and the explosion destroyed half of the building, and then in these places there was an earthquake. The castle was again restored.
After the Rosenberg then ruled Chambery who had offended the king and were deprived of all property. The local castle was granted to Karl Buchou, whose family owned it until 1945. Now in the castle opened an exhibition devoted to its previous owners.
