The so-called house of Livingston is located just North of Stonetown on the road Bububu. Built in 1860, the house served as a refuge for many European missionaries and explorers. Here Livingstone stayed before sending on his last expedition. Later the building became the property of the Hindu society. In 1947, the government bought and remodeled the house to transform it into a laboratory for scientific research. Now in the same building is the office of tourism Corporation of Zanzibar.
