Castle Duchcov is a monumental Baroque structure, reflected in a deep pond, organized at the walls, and making a lasting impression on all guests. The Palace complex, which we see now was built in the form of the letter "P". Two wings of the castle is framed by a spacious courtyard. In the castle are beautiful gate, decorated with statues in Baroque style.

As usual, this Palace was built on the site of another complex, built in Gothic style and later rebuilt in the Renaissance style.

Castle Duchcov belonged to the wealthiest, most influential family of Valdstejnove. It is not surprising that the repair work of the family nest of Valdstejnove have received enormous attention. It stood out unthinkable amounts being spent wisely. In the end, there was a castle surrounded by a cosy garden, which was decorated with allegorical sculptures and decorative benches. On the project of the castle worked for several architects, including the famous Frenchman J. B. Mathieu.

Reconstruction of the Palace Duchcov was finished in 1722. At the end of XVIII century the castle again rebuilt, giving it the traits of Neoclassicism. When is this repair, lives in a castle Giacomo Casanova. He holds the position of librarian.

Among famous personalities, do visit the owners of the castle and briefly stayed in the Palace, one can note several Russian emperors, writers Goethe and Schiller, a whole galaxy of musicians and composers, including Mozart and Beethoven. The last is a monument in castle garden.
