Alexander gymnasium – the oldest educational institution of the city of Sumy. It is located on one of the most beautiful city streets Trinity. The name of the school is in honour of Russian Emperor Alexander III, in whose reign it was discovered. The main building of the Alexander gymnasium was built in the classical style in 1873, a Little later there was built a guest house for foreign students, which could accommodate up to 40 people.

Majestic and strict school building reminiscent of a fairytale medieval castle with red brick walls, pinnacles, battlements, elongated arched Windows, surrounded by ornamentation of unusual form and ogival portal. And the unusual beauty of the staircase that leads to the second floor and two-tone ballroom left in the soul who has ever been here, lasting impression, and mentally endure in a time when even on the basis of the district school was established worldly gymnasium, which became known as the Alexander.

Interesting enough is the fact that this building housed only the best educational institutions Sum: 1925 - teachers College, 1930 - Institute of special education, 1933 - pedagogical Institute, 1953 - secondary school # 8, classical high school, and, finally, the historical-architectural complex still returned its historical name – Alexander gymnasium.

To date, the school specializes in enhanced learning English in natural-mathematical bias.
