In Luke, which is an integral part of the city of Sumy is a historical monument that tells about the life of writer A. P. Chekhov House-Museum of A. Chekhov. The Museum is housed in the former mansion of the landlord family Lintvarevy. Not all of the six buildings that were once owned Lintvarevy waited for our time, remained intact only the manor house, East and West wings. Two years (1888-1889.) in Western wooden outbuilding conducted by A. P. Chekhov.
To date, three architectural monuments acts only memorial Museum - the House-Museum of AP Chekhov, which was officially opened on 29 January 1960 in honor of the centennial anniversary of the birth of the writer. The Museum recreates the entire interior of that time and established a memorial composition. Other buildings were designed restoration projects, but, beginning in 1980, they were frozen.
Today the House-Museum of A. Chekhov invites wooden porch with railings. Going further, you can see the front room and five bathrooms. In the room located opposite the front, were the living and dining rooms, where Chekhov spent time with friends and guests. The small door of the room leads to the veranda, where on summer evenings drinking tea family Chekhov and Lintvarevy. From the entrance on the left is the brother of Anton Pavlovich - Nicholas. Bathroom Anton Pavlovich was next to the room of Nicholas. Going into it, you can see the three Windows that overlook the Park. There was a bedroom, and a study of Anton Pavlovich. In the other two rooms housed the sister and mother of Chekhovs. The Museum displays exhibits from the personal life of Chekhov: his clothes, photos family, images of his brother Nicholas.
Museum staff participate in conferences in Sumy, as well as the international level conferences, conducts research with the aim of promoting the Museum and the exhibits telling about the life of Anton Chekhov in Luka. Each month the Museum hosts evening dedicated to the famous Russian writers and cultural figures.
Currently in disrepair is the main house and East wing, which are gradually destroyed. Although in the 90-ies has developed documentation on the implementation of the project "New life of the old HOMESTEAD, which was to be carried out to restore cultural monuments, but the repair work was stopped, because there was no funding from the government.
