St. George Church is one of the attractions of the city of Taganrog. The temple in honor of St. George on Old street-Postal (street Dzerzhinsky) was opened in may 1943 at the request of residents and workers of the Metallurgical plant. The temple was designed for parishioners who lived on Scaramanga, Kasparova and Novoselivka. It was located in a small shop building that would not suit the parish Church, nor the clergy. In 1945, located near old stone granary was converted into a Church, which was consecrated Bishop Joseph (Chernoby).

In the postwar period and until 1986, the Church remained in the shadows, the services were held discreetly and quietly while the rector of the Church was not appointed Archpriest of the Arians Pniewski. Thanks to his initiative, started construction of a new temple. In the end, the old barn was dismantled, and the material used for the construction of the future Church. With the direct participation of the Abbot of the Church, who was also the Manager of the works, the Builder and suppliers, the construction was purposeful. By the parishioners for the shortest line, the Church building was not only built, but also fully equipped.

In terms of the newly built Church has five bells turned 21 at 11 m. the Author of this project was himself an Arian Pniewski. Consecration of the restored and newly built Church was held on 5 may 1991, After the consecration of the Cathedral's construction lasted.

Because of the serious illness of the father of the Arians could not conduct services, so in June 2008, the new Abbot of St. georgeĆ­s Church appointed Archpriest Alexei Lysikova. In may 2013, the Church celebrated its 70th anniversary. In September 2013, it was announced that the reconstruction of the Church, during which it is planned to combine the building of the religious education center and Sunday school.
