The Guild Of St. Anthony is the umbrella organization of professional artists of applied arts, artists and artisans. In written sources the Guild was first mentioned in 1449, as a Small Guild, or Guild of St. Anthony, which was comprised of urban artisans. The patron Saint of Tartu Small Guild was Saint Anthony, in honor of him was called the Association. Craft work was considered to be the primary activity of local residents. Those masters who were not in the Guild, had the right to practice their craft and sell their wares in the city.
Today the task of the Guild is to support the development of Estonian arts and crafts. The Master Of The Guild Of St. Anthony is a creative people who love their work, respectful of ancient traditions and craft skills undertaken by them products are made with love. The founder of the pottery workshop in 1996 steel glass artist Piret Veski, who graduated from the State art Institute of the Estonian SSR, and ceramist Kaido Kask. The carpet shop wizard make belts and skirts for folk costumes, woven woolen bedspreads, curtains, carpets on looms. This work uses natural materials: linen, wool, cotton. As in other workshops, you can participate in the master class: the weaving. The outcome of the master class will be the belt, made by hand.
In patchwork workshop of the Guild of St. Anthony made items of clothing, home textiles: cushion covers, bed covers, bags, raincoats. It hosts various workshops: workshop on production of cervical decorations in patchwork technique, making patchwork dolls, panels, workshop on making silk purses in the style of medieval urban matrons.
In a Studio you can buy paintings, participate in master classes or just to view the exhibition. You can also order a painting: portraits, paintings, etc.
Making antique costumes you can see the costumes of different eras, made from natural materials. In addition, you can order this suit in your wardrobe.
Puppet workshop, which has been working since 2005, a magic puppet world where placed cats, giraffes, angels, smiling dolls and other interesting characters. Here you can admire the toys, but and buy the product. And, of course, you can make your toy, taking part in master-classes on manufacturing of toys and dolls in different techniques.
Hat workshop, which began its work in 2005, offered a greater choice of headwear for men, women and children. The wizard will produce for you hats made of different materials: fur, leather, fabric. All hats are made by the master manually, ornaments for them are made of the same materials as the products themselves.
Furriers, or masters for the production of fur and leather products, in Estonia, not so much. Typically the knowledge and skills required for this kind of craft, are kept very secret. However, here you can watch the artists at work and even take part in master-classes on manufacturing of fur brooches. There is also a workshop for the production of fur keychain with leather braided strap.
Stained glass Studio working in Tartu since 1993. The Guild Atelier moved in the fall of 1999, creating another workshop – stained glass. Workshop offers its services for making stained glass to order, wall clock with glass dial and other products. You can also enroll in a master-class on making a mini stained glass Tiffany technique or to participate in workshop for melting, where you can make a glass pendant, ornament or medallion.
The textile workshop, which opened in 2001, the author made fabrics and textiles for decoration of premises and tailoring. Pearl textile workshop are natural silk dresses, made in the technique of "painting on silk". Taking part in a workshop on silk painting, you will make a silk scarf in this technique.
