National Park "Narawntapu is a surprisingly peaceful place and a Paradise for the wildlife that abounds in the grassy plains, Moors and fens. The Park, covering an area of 4, 3 thousand hectares, located between the beaches of Greens beach at the mouth of the river Tamar and Bakers beach near the town of Port Sorell. In 2000, the Park's name was changed from "Asbestos Ridges on traditional aboriginal "Narawntapu" as a recognition of the importance of these places for the indigenous people of Tasmania.
The diversity of the landscape Park attracts dozens of species of birds: here you can see ducks, herons, sea birds, to the present time, and in dry eucalyptus forests – impressive black cockatoos and a diamond-green Roselle. The fauna of the Park includes forest kangaroos, wallabies, filangeri and wombats that roam the plains in search of food. They are quite friendly and will sometimes allow you to come at a fairly close distance. However, feeding wild animals is prohibited! The Park also inhabits one of the largest populations of the famous Tasmanian devil.
Tourists love this pristine corner of nature for the opportunity to swim in clear waters on the beaches of Bakers beach and Badger beach, boating or marine skiing on the beach Springlawn beach or just go fishing. Here you can rent a horse and have a little promenade accompanied by a Ranger. To the West of the Park is adjacent Tamar valley is the most famous wine region of Tasmania.
