Moravian town Chrást was founded on a hill near Chrudim. Its founders are considered the Benedictine monks, who in the XIII century was built the monastery. He did not last long: in 1421 it was plundered and destroyed by Hussite troops.
In this monastery there was a huge volume and format of the book – "the devil's Bible', so called because, according to legend, a monk who was assigned to single-handedly write a book, helped the devil. They say that a monk has created this book in one night. Now it is kept in Sweden, and its exact copy is the local castle, built in the Renaissance style and later rebuilt in Baroque style. This Palace was used as a residence of the bishops of Hradec Kralove. Now the castle is a Museum dedicated to the history, crafts and art of the local region. Among the Museum's treasures include several paintings by A. Majka, Dating from the late eighteenth century.
On the ruins of the monastery in 1696 built the Church of St. Margaret. Among other sacred buildings of the city note is the chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, which is located behind the Park adjacent to the castle, and Church of the Holy Trinity. It was erected in 1612-1618 years, and after a while completely burned. In 1774 it was restored and opened for worship.
In the cemetery near the Church of St. Martin, which reconstruction was carried out personally by Santini, buried prominent citizens and bishops, for a long time responsible for the management of the Hrasta.
