Under the Kunětická hill on the banks of the river Loučná you can see a small Moravian town Sezemice. The proximity of mountains and rivers, fertile soil, the presence of forests, where they could get food, made this area very attractive for living. According to archaeologists, the first settlements in this area appeared in the stone age.
The city of Sezemice is one of the oldest settlements of the region, so it will be interesting to people interested in history.
The first mention of the village Sezemice we meet in the will of the local Lord of Koyata, compiled in 1227. The village was large and rich. About the middle of the thirteenth century learned about it the Cistercian order, which received permission for the erection of a convent here. The Holy monastery was plundered by the Hussites in 1421 and already beyond repair. At the same time, at the hands of vandals suffered and the local Church dedicated to the Holy Trinity, but, thanks to the efforts of local residents, was able to be rebuilt. This temple was part of the monastery. Next to the Church stands one of the tallest bell towers in the Czech Republic. It was built in the shape of an octagon in the XVI century and is decorated with a dome in the form of bulbs.
Since the XV century Sezemice belonged to a rich noble family of Prstanov. Nevertheless, it was still a small village, deprived of the right to hold the fair. Only in 1834, this locality bestow the title of city. Now in Sezemice population of about 3 thousand people.
For tourists who are in this city, it will be interesting to see two hall – old and new. Old city hall is a small two-story structure, topped by a turret with a dial. New town Hall is more capacity than the old one. It was built in a modern style, its facade painted in cheerful peach shades.
