The Bruck castle - medieval castle in Lienz in Tyrol. The castle was named after a small stone bridge (Bruecke), which was located at the castle. Castle tower and large defensive walls have been preserved.

The construction of the castle began in the year 1250 as the residence of the counts of Hertz. In 1480 the genus Herz begin to rule in the Tyrol, it leads to rapid development of the castle. It is rapidly evolving and new buildings, including the chapel, consisting of two floors, the walls of which are decorated with paintings by Simon von Taisten.

After the death of the last Scion of Hertz, the castle passed into the possession of Emperor Maximilian I, who quickly laid Brooke to repay their large debts. The next owner of the castle becomes a sort von Wolkenstein, in the period of ownership of which the wall was built with a rotunda, built another log.

In the 17th century the castle was used for court sessions and to store weapons. Later in the castle began to live like a nun. In 1783, Emperor Joseph II decided to throw in the castle barracks and a hospital, so he announced Brooke property of the state and drove the nuns.

Until the outbreak of the First world war, the castle was owned by the family of the Governor of Lienz and was used as a brewery.

During the Second world war the castle was opened city Museum - Museum of arts and traditions of East Tyrol. Forty halls of the Museum shows paintings of different artists. In addition, the exposition of the Museum contains interesting archaeological finds discovered during excavations Aguntum.
