Ehrwald is a small Austrian resort town located in the state of Tyrol. Municipality in the district Reutte. The city is situated at an altitude of 2950 metres above sea level. Near the German side is the famous Bavarian winter sports resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Ehrwald is first mentioned in documents from the year 1274. The village was not like the other settlements of the district. Not a very convenient location away from the main routes was the cause of the difficult economic situation of Ehrwald. The city existed thanks to the production of wood, which became a major source of income for local residents. However, already in the early 20th century Ehrwald was discovered by tourists and has become a famous ski resort in the Zugspitze region.

In 1926 opened the cable car, after which the flow of tourists has increased dramatically. In the city began to open hotels and restaurants, as well as all related tourist infrastructure. In summer, tourists visit the natural reserve of Ehrwald, and a beautiful nearby lake.
