Museum of Asian and African art in Tryavna is the only such Museum on the Balkan Peninsula.

The Museum was created in the last decade of the twentieth century. Its exposition consists of 328 items donated by living in the United States sculptor Zlatko Paunovi. The artist is a graduate of the Academy of arts of Sofia, but the love for art in its various manifestations took him through many countries. Immediately after graduation he emigrated first to Italy, then to France, until it finally settled in new York. For his life W. Paunov managed to visit all five continents and assemble an interesting collection of art all over the world. Special love sculptor nourishes the culture of the East. Every year, he spent some time in Tibet and Nepal. In addition, W. Panov studied the arts of China, India, Japan and Indonesia. In 1993, the artist returned home to Bulgaria. Once in Tryavna, he was deeply impressed with how the inhabitants managed to preserve the architecture and appearance of the city the spirit of the Renaissance. Then he decided to give the city its collection.

The Museum is located about 400 works of art from Europe, Asia and Africa. Here you can see a large collection devoted to Buddhist culture: objects of ritual purpose; gilded bronze statues of the gods; the manuscript on drivebirmingham language, written on palm leaves, which contains fragments of the Buddhist Canon Tripitaka; the plate is engraved with the prayer-spell "Oh Mani Padme hum"; made of human bones sacred musical instrument Kanling, which is used in ceremonies in some Tibetan monasteries, and much more.

A small collection of items Hindu religion presents figures of deities – Vishnu, Brahma, Lakshmi, Shiva and others.

In the hall of African art exhibited authentic African masks from wood, fabric and leather used in the various rituals. Of particular interest are the wooden sculptures and paintings depicting the life of the Maasai – semi-nomadic African people.

In 2004 the Museum moved to a specially allocated to the building of the former public baths on the banks of the river.
