One of the most famous dendrological gardens is located on the estate of the forestry College in the village Selivanovo relating to the Shchekino district, Tula region – in 23 km from the town of Shchekino. This complex is a popular place among locals and visiting tourists. Only the area of the arboretum complex is approximately 5, 5 ha.
At the end of 1978, these areas were classified as natural monument. 20 years later, dendrological gardens have become a part of Botanical gardens of Russia and were listed in a special list.
The basis of this complex occurred in 1929 in a desert area, located to the South side from the estate. The soil was submitted to heavy loams, which, to a greater extent were ashed. Most of the territory was occupied, while it is quite stagnant surface water during the growing season. Great effort and constant work was required to ensure that the area is fully suitable for planting shrubs and trees. Total square footage was divided into 19 sectors. All this work took place under the supervision Popova-Peripecias Ekaterina Ivanovna – teacher on the part of the forest.
With regard to varieties of species arboretum, they are constantly replenished with new and new shrub and tree species brought from the experimental breeding station of Lipetsk, as well as from Belarus, Moscow region, Plavsk nursery, and several other agencies. Planting a variety of shrubs and trees was done as they did, that is, the consideration of zoning was not conducted.
The greatest number of sectors in the form of avenues, the most successful were: alley brucato birch, Russian larch, common mountain ash, Norway maple, grown in the period between 1946 and 1960-ies.
Incredibly great effort it took to work in the dendrological garden. Their skills here showed Goldin Joseph Lvovich, under whose leadership there have been many landings and most decorated alleys. Today, the preserved information about the collection of the arboretum complex, which on 1 January 1971 consisted of more than 180 breeds.
A key thrust in the work of the arboretum became the educational-cognitive activity. Initially it was decided to build a collection for the purpose of the practical acquaintance of the students with shrubs and trees identified in the course of dendrology. After some time, decided to set a target to create a collection of shrub and tree species that were of great importance on the part of gardening, and forestry of the middle strip of Russia.
Between 1971 and 1973 the Park was brought necessary planting material, delivered with the experimental breeding station of Lipetsk, as well as Ivanteevka nursery. In mid-1973 was planted a large number of shrubs and trees on the territory of 3 hectares of Existing breeds were grouped on a geographical indicator. The principle of planting and planning has created great visibility breeds and is specially designed for landscape composition, which is clearly reminiscent of the natural environment".

Collection of dendrological complex still are replenished by grown in induction of plant nursery or received a postal order from different Botanical gardens on the exchange principle. There is evidence that on 1 January 2008 on the territory of the arboretum complex there were approximately 560 taxa.
