One of the most famous streets, retaining the soul of the old town, is a street Korzo. Korzo street has long been a trade centre where artisans lived. This gave name to the street of Naples counts Drugets, with Italian it translates as "street walking". Started it takes from the waterfront Independence to the Theatre square and ending square Shevchenko at the foot of castle hill.
In the late 17th century the street was called the Pavement, was later named in honor of a famous Hungarian writer F. Kazinczy, and in Soviet times it was renamed in the street Suvorov. The historical name of the street returned after the independence of Ukraine. The name turned out to be very helpful, because it is here for many centuries, the locals love to take evening walks.
The architectural appearance of the street, formed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, virtually unchanged. On both sides along the road built two and three - storey houses with exquisite stucco ornaments. Beautiful architectural design of the building combines a variety of architectural styles, elements and motifs, expressing an Austro-Hungarian and Czecho-Slovak style. Here, as many years ago, hosting a variety of small shops, coffee shops and restaurants.
A favorite meeting place for the opposition player and guide for visitors to the city is the intersection of the street Korzo and Voloshin street - the so-called "Cross". Here you can see a beautiful house, built in the late 19th century, called "the White ship". In addition to this imposing building walking down the street Korzo, you can see other attractions of Uzhgorod – the building of the former synagogue on the Theatre square, now home of the Philharmonic, St. Yuri (George), etc.
