One of the oldest temples located in the territory of Valladolid, is the Church of the monastery of San Benito El real. The Church was built between 1499 and 1515 for years in the place that was here before the Royal Palace-fortress. The Church is built in Gothic style by architects Juan ARLANDIA and Garcia de olawa. The main facade of the temple was completed a little later, in 1569, under the guidance of the architect Rodrigo Gil of Antoniana.

The Church has three naves ending in three polygonal apses. The interior of the Church is covered with high arches, making the Church seem spacious and bright. This feeling is amplified and by good lighting – wall of the temple is decorated with a large number of narrow arched Windows.

In the Central nave is the main altar of the Church is a work of art. The altar dedicated to the patron of the order of Benedictine monks – St. Benedict Nursinghome. No less valuable are located in the Central nave of the magnificent carved chairs. They are made in the plateresque style in 1528, the famous sculptor and master of carving Andres de Najera. The backs of the chairs are decorated with skilfully executed carvings of saints, and of the genealogical tree of the local gentry. Inside the Church are altars and sculptures, tombs, ancient bodies.

The building of the Church of San Benito El real is located close to the building of the monastery, the magnificent facade of which was designed by architect Juan Ribero Rada in the style of mannerism.
