The knights of St John built everywhere hospitals, where they received medical assistance not only knights, but also the poor, homeless people, regardless of their religion. In that building, built in 70-ies of the XVI century, is the world's longest hospital ward – 161 metres in length. Later, it housed the stables.

In 1979 the building was restored. It opened as a conference space and attraction "Malta" is a multimedia presentation on the history of Malta from the Neolithic to the present day.
