The Church Of The Shipwreck Of St. Paul is one of the oldest in Valletta. The building was built by the architect Girolamo Cassar in the XVI century. The interior of the Church decorated with columns of colored marble and an abundance of gilded woodcarving. The arch painted with frescoes depicting episodes from the life of St. Paul.
The Church houses many relics and precious things, including the hand of the Apostle Paul, the silver throne of the Grand Master, Dating from the beginning of the eighteenth century, and a magnificent carved statue of the Apostle Paul sculptor Gough (1657), which are carrying during a solemn procession through the streets of the city.
