Danube tower Photo: Danube tower

The Danube tower was opened in April 1964, designed by architect Hanns Lintles in preparation for the International garden exhibition. From the outside the tower looks like a tower, but in practice has no TV nothing.

The Danube tower is the tallest free-standing structure in Austria, its height is 252 meters. The tower is located near the Northern Bank of the Danube in the 22nd business district of Vienna, Donaustadt. Since opening it has become part of the Viennese skyline and a popular tourist attraction, which is understandable, because the visibility from the tower in good weather is about 80 kilometers.

The deck is located at a height of 150 meters, where attendees raised two high-speed passenger elevators. The Elevator is also a kind of amusement: it can accommodate up to 14 passengers and raises to a height in just 35 seconds. In a strong wind elevators travel at a much slower speed due to possible oscillations of the tower. Of course, provided in the tower and staircase with 779 steps. However, it is used only during the annual festival running or in emergency situations.

The tower has two rotating restaurants at the height of 160 I meters), which offer an excellent view of the capital of Austria and the Danube. A complete revolution of the platform for restaurants to make 39 and 52 minutes respectively. Restaurants initially largely identical, however, currently considered the top restaurant more presentable, whereas the lower, rather cafe. However, the menu and the prices are not much different.

Fans of extreme rest, and all who wish to throw out the adrenaline come here to practice bungee jumping (jumping from a height), which are organized during the summer months of the year.
