The neo-Gothic New town Hall was built in the years 1872-1883 by the architect Friedrich Schmidt. The symmetrical façade overlooks the Ringstrasse – the Boulevard ring of Vienna. On top of the 98-metre-high Central tower is a statue of a medieval knight in armor, which became one of the symbols of Vienna. In the New town Hall is the seat of the Parliament of Vienna.

In front of city Hall, the Park, decorated with fountains and sculptures of prominent Austrians. Since November, the square in front of city Hall is decorated with a huge Christmas tree, there's a Christmas Bazaar. And in the summer the square is transformed into an outdoor theater and arts festivals.
