Soomaa national Park is located in southwestern Estonia. Soomaa is translated as "land of bogs". The Park was established in 1993 to protect wetlands, meadows, forests and rivers. The area of Soomaa National Park is 390 sq km, it is the second largest after Lahemaa.
Most of the Park is covered with wetland complexes, which are sometimes replaced by the tributaries of the river pärnu. In Soomaa is the largest by area the marsh – Kuresoo or "cranberry bog", which is really a lot of these birds.
