The Catholic Church of St. Nicholas was built in 1899 in neo-Gothic style. Material for the construction of the walls of the temple was burnt brick. The main facade of the Church is decorated with Lancet arch and rosette. Above the entrance rises a tower, designed in the Gothic revival style, which houses the belfry, topped by a spire. The whole temple is beautifully painted and decorated. The main altar of the Church was consecrated in honour of the Dormition of the Mother of God, and side chapels dedicated to St. Stanislaus and the virgin Mary.

In the 30's, the Catholic Church was completely looted and closed. In 1935, it housed a school, and after it was used as a club. To the 80-th years of the XX century the Church fell into disrepair. The Church looked so dilapidated that there is the question of its demolition, and at the same place it was planned the construction of a Home technology youth. In the 90s of the activities of the Catholic Church in Russia began slowly to revive. In August 1991, was officially incorporated Catholic parish of the city of Volgograd. In January 1992, the dilapidated Church was transferred to the Church community. Its restoration lasted five years. The solemn consecration of the Church dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra was held on 4 may 1997

To date, the ward has a charitable society, Caritas, women's monastic congregation of sisters of premonstrant and the Catholic movement called the "Association John XXIII".
