Unique historical and architectural complex "Sarepta" on the southern outskirts of Volgograd is miraculously preserved buildings of the settlement of the colonists-the Lutheran, founded in 1765 as the brotherhood of herrnhuters.
The only Russian colony (in the world tens of) the followers of the teachings of Jan HUS existed until the late nineteenth century. In our days in the historical-architectural complex "Sarepta" includes: an 18th-century building of the Museum-reserve "Old Sarepta" with the exposition of the cultural heritage of the Lower Volga region and the history of the development of the settlement, the Church square with the bell tower, the house of the Apothecary, were vineyards, healing springs, the HOMESTEAD of a farmer, a wine cellar with vaulted ceilings, industrial premises (18-19 century) and the highest building in the village Church, where concerts of organ, instrumental and classical music (built in 1772). In the ancient square happen pageants historical battles, festivals of national culture.
Historical-architectural complex "Sarepta" is considered the major tourist, cultural and research centre of the Volga region.
