Especially vividly and clearly represent the culture of the Vologda region of the exposition under the title "Folk art of the Russian North" and "Ancient art of 14-18 centuries in the collection of the Vologda Museum-reserve presented in the southern walls of the Vologda Kremlin. One of the exhibits in detail introduces visitors to the monuments of iconography, small plastic facial sewing and wood culture. All works fully reflect all the features and characteristics of the local culture, as well as allow us to trace the effect of different active areas and schools. A special pride of the Museum were such icons as: "our lady of Tolga" or "Podkunenskaya"; "Trinity Zyryan", written by St. Stephen of Perm; "John the Baptist in the desert," which came to the Museum directly from Semigorodnyaya desert and some other. The exhibition "Folk art of the Russian North" presents objects of peasant life with a variety of representatives of arts and crafts: weaving, painting and wood-carving, embroidery, art pottery and metal and printed cloth. The exhibition presents different types of paintings: rakulskaya, Glubokovsky, borecka, Pucisca, gawlinski presented on chests, spinning wheels, cabinets. The third exhibition, which will be soon presented on display visitors, related to trades and crafts of the Vologda region. The rich and unique history lace craft helps to dedicate a separate exposition. This section is preparing not only a new exhibition, but the exhibition "the arts and crafts of the Vologda region", which is expected to show crafts and trades: Samovodska carving, Northern niello, Ustiug graphic crafts, waffle iron, domshinsky elm. The new collection will perfectly complement the lace Museum and will give some idea of what the local ground is a treasure trove of folk talents.
One of the activities of the art center is preparing holiday events that take place within the exhibition Department. The script is built in such a way that numerous exhibits literally woven into the festive canvas. One of such events was a celebration of lace, which was attended by one of the firms for the production of lace, technical school of art and crafts, children's fashion theater and other participants. These events help to provide the Museum exhibits from the other side and Deposit in the collection that is included in the list of the main tasks of the Museum.
Every year as the development of their partnerships, the art Department creates the so-called traveling exhibitions for other museums. At the request of colleagues from the city of Rostov in 2008, the exhibition of works of famous masters Evdokia Panova was transferred to Rostov in the summer. Thematic paintings in the technique of home creativity, emotional and vivid, unprecedented popularity and recognition of most visitors. In Hungary, was presented the exhibition "Orthodox art of the 16th-18th centuries in the collection of the Museum-reserve of Vologda".
