St. Nicholas Church is located in the Nikolo-Solunska monastery.
The name of the Christian Saint Nicholas is known throughout the world. However, there is no land, where it was honored with such awe and reverence, as in Russia. And no, probably, in our country the person that has never heard the name of this Saint of God, did not know about the wonders they committed, speedy intercession and help in difficult life circumstances. He is the closest, warmest, most native to the saints of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The first wooden Church in the monastery was dedicated to Saint Nicholas. It was built in the XV century. After a time, the Church was burnt by the poles. In the 11th year of the eighteenth century it was decided to build a new temple, also made of wood, with a chapel in the name of great Martyr Barbara.
In 1804 the Church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker again turned into the old building, and it was decided in the refectory room of the assumption Church to arrange a chapel in the name of Saint Nicholas. Here Church were transferred items and the iconostasis of the wooden Church.
September 13, 2003, to celebrate the 100 anniversary from the founding of the Nikolo-Solunska convent, was made the Foundation of the new building with the Church in the name of St. Nicholas, and at the same time, a solemn ceremony of consecration of the main altar of the Church, and the chapel of the beheading of John the Baptist in the same Church. Also on this day in the Liturgy the abbess was elevated to the rank of abbess.
Interior decoration of the temple is striking in beauty and richness. The iconostasis, Kyoto, floors and panels of marble Church. The project aimed at the design of the interior of the temple was not supposed to depict a mosaic or stone carving, and decorating the Church with inlays of natural stone of different tones that characterize the natural structure of the stone.
