"Trinity" is a monument located in the center of Yaroslavl, near the Arrow. Initially, this sculpture was installed in place of the destroyed in the 1930-ies of the ancient altar of the Dormition Church. But later, in connection with the reconstruction of the Cathedral, the monument was moved to the Park near the waterfront.

Sculptural composition "Trinity" has been set to 985-year anniversary of the city and in honor of the Millennium of the baptism of Russia, as well as the memory of destroyed in 1931, the assumption Cathedral (the Church was restored in 2010 to 1000 anniversary of Yaroslavl).

"Trinity" is a pretty bold attempt to comprehend in sculpture immortal works of Andrei Rublev and modern artistic decision. At the moment it is the only sculpture of the Trinity in Russia. In Orthodoxy was allowed to portray in sculpture only of Christ and a very small number of Saint Paraskeva Friday, George and others, and they are not too often used in Russian churches. Yaroslavsky same master N. Mukhin and E. Travous created something unprecedented. Besides the image of the Trinity, they did not very realistic: simplified proportions and shapes, reminiscent of ancient frescoes, the table at his feet.

This monument has become the cause of many disagreements, as part of the citizens of the sculptural image of the Trinity caused the dislike. This song many thought too bold an expression of the artistic perception of the Christian faith. Three angels are depicted in the sculpture, not associated with ordinary people with the traditional concept of angels. Moreover, the "Trinity" was installed on the Spit like a garden sculpture.

After the installation of the monument in the media the real storm broke out. It seemed that people who the sculpture was not to his liking, much more. The sculpture could destroy or remove from this place. But one of its author was Nikolai Mukhin, the most famous Russian artist, member of the presidential Council for culture. He foresaw such an outcome of events and gained an audience with the Patriarch, the wise and enlightened man. Alexy II blessed the sculpture and asked the Archbishop Micah sanctify her, which was done.

But despite the controversy over the appearance of the monument, he was one of the main attractions of Yaroslavl. No city tour is not complete without visiting this place, it is included in many tourist itineraries and brochures. Any tourist who gets in Yaroslavl, be sure to visit this monument.

One of the modern traditions is the tossing of coins into the bowl, located in the lower part of the composition. When and who first did it is unknown, but most visitors consider it their duty to throw a coin into the Cup from Trinity.
