Mirogoj cemetery was established in 1876 by the Austrian architect Hermann Bollé. Sight of the cemetery are its input gates and arcades along the Western wall, where they found eternal peace of the rich and famous residents of the Croatian capital.

The cemetery is more like a sculptural Park: most of the gravestones made famous Croatian sculptors, including Ivan Mestrovic.
