St. Andrew's Cathedral of the city of Zaporozhye is located on the street on March 8. St. Andrew's Cathedral has long been the main attraction of the Shevchenko district, which is one of the largest districts of Zaporozhye. The Church was named in honor of the Apostle Andrew.

The history of St. Andrew's Cathedral began in September 1995. At this time with the blessing of his Eminence Basil, Archbishop of Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol, in a former cinema named after T. Shevchenko, was founded the religious community of St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

After a few months, in the biggest room of the second floor was occupied by a Church, which was named in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov. Until 2000, Svyato-Andreevskaya religious community of the city of Zaporozhye were going in a converted space theatre named after T. Shevchenko.

In 2000, Shevchenko cinema was reconstructed and in its place was erected St. Andrew's Cathedral. The Cathedral was built at the expense of the enterprise "Motor Sich" and other patrons.

St. Andrew's Cathedral is decorated with a huge Central dome and two smaller domes on the sides. Nearby stands a tall bell tower.

To date, the Golden domes of the temple sparkle in the sun, low columns frame the facades of the Cathedral and the upper tiers of the bell tower, and the classical style, softness, ease of parts and beautiful murals create a pleasurable experience from the contemplation of the temple.
