One of the most important historical sites in the city of Aarhus is a Royal summer residence Marselisborg. The history of the Palace begins in 1661, when king Frederick III in payment of a debt gave lands and lands a Dutch merchant Gabriel Marselis. Managers become the property of the two sons of Marselis, Constantine and William. The mansion was renovated by renowned Danish architect Hack Kampmann. Today the castle serves as a Royal summer residence. The changing of the guard outside the castle held during the summer vacation of the Royal family. The Palace is closed to the General public, but the Park is open to visitors when the property has no Royal family.

Behind the Palace is a magnificent rose garden, which has survived some varieties of roses Queen Alexandrina. Today, the garden has more than 350 varieties of roses that are planted on a grassy lawn in the form of a labyrinth.
