Alanya castle is considered the landmark of the city, it represents an ancient history and is a reminder of how difficult and bloody was the historical past of Turkey. The fortress is one of the largest and most impressive of the many other in the country. It highlights the fact that it is the most well preserved to this day.

The fortress consists of one hundred and forty of the towers, surrounded by a wall with an unusual and intricate ornaments. Erected walls made of large boulders, which were bonded using a special heavy-duty solution "Khorasan", whereby the walls were resistant to cannon fire from the guns. The length of the wall along the perimeter of the fortress is more than six kilometers. Inside, the walls have built-in towers, which are equipped with holes to drain the hot tar on the besiegers. In the fortress there are underground reservoirs in number about four hundred. Gate in the form of arches with ancient runes, surrounding the fortress entrances, still are an example of ancient architecture. All inputs have been assigned individual names - Lower, Upper, Middle, Cool, Curved, Secret and Gate Warriors, and they were intended primarily for communication with the outside world.

In the fortress were constructed with different structures, and each had its own function: the Sultan of the winter Palace, the houses for military exercises, naval shipyard for ships, living quarters, a mosque, houses and tents for trading, bath, as well as a place for punishment sentenced by dropping off a cliff. Also in the fortress there is an old monastery and Church, as well as the ancient mint.

The most impressive construction is the Red Tower. She was built in 1226 by the ancient architect Halepli Ali ECU. From the outside the tower looks quite simple, but the internal plan of the building shows the high skill of the maker. The red tower was restored in the 50-ies of the 20 century and currently functions as a Museum that presents works of folk art.
