Archaeological Museum, known by the acronym MARQ, is located in the Spanish city of Alicante, on the square Dr. Gomez Hive. The Museum was opened in 1932 with the support of President Alcala Zamora Niceto and originally occupied the first floors of the newly built Palace of Deputies. In 2000, the Museum moved to the building of the hospital San Juan. A significant contribution to the formation of the collections made by local archaeologists Lafuente, Jose Vidal and Francisco Figueras Pacheco.

Today it is one of the largest archaeological museums in the country, demonstrating to visitors the great historical heritage of the region of the Costa Blanca, are 81 thousand exhibits. The Museum has several rooms, each of which presents exposure correspond to certain time periods. So here is a collection dedicated to the Paleolithic era, the period of development of Roman culture, the culture of Iberia, the middle Ages and modern times.

The archaeological Museum in Alicante is not an ordinary Museum. The fact that this Museum is equipped with ultra-modern audio and video technologies, thanks to which visitors can watch real, meticulously created by the staff of the Museum of historical stories involving people and using actual Museum exhibits. All scientists have created 18 of these movies that are shown on huge screens.

In 2004, the Museum was awarded the best Museum of the year in Europe.
