Cape Cliff, aka the Cape of Plaka, located on the southern coast of Crimea, in the East of the mountain Ayu-Dag, between the resort village of Partenit and the city of Alushta, on the Gulf of Kuchuk-Lamatsch. The height of the Cape - 50 m, length 330 m.
From the Greek name of the Cape "Plaka" is translated as "flat stone". In 1947 the Cape was granted the status of natural monument. This natural original composition in the form of a mushroom very similar in profile, dog breed Pekingese. In ancient times it housed the strengthening and lighthouse point Lambas.
Cape Rock (Cape Plaka) consists mainly of greenish rocks - rocks of magmatic origin, which are characterized by porphyry structure. Scientists have estimated that during the formation of the array Utes (Plaka), the pressure in the alloy was about 1 thousand kg per square centimeter.
During the underwater survey of the territories around the Cape was found three sites with the accumulation of archaeological material. Also among the finds were found fragments of pottery scattered on the surface of the bottom. Only some narrow-necked jugs (popular in 9 – 11th centuries) it found more than 60 pieces.
From the top of Cape Plaka, offers exceptionally impressive and beautiful panorama from one side to the Ayu-Dag, Partenit and all of Kuchuk-Lambatsky Bay, and state - of-Karabakh and mount Castel. From the observation deck of the Cape you can see and Kucuk lambatsky stone chaos.
Another attraction of the promontory are the remains of a family crypt Gagarin and Sterligova and a small Church built in the Byzantine-Georgian style. Especially popular among tourists is a real Gothic castle-Palace, which belonged to the princes Borozdina-Gagarin. Castle-Palace was built in 1907 for Princess Gagarina by architect N. P. Krasnov. Today, the building houses the administrative building of the sanatorium "Utes". Great interest among the tourists and also causes the Park resort, which is a unique monument of landscape art of the 19th century If you go over the Cliff a little to the West, in the grove of Italian stone pines, you can see another monument of architecture – the mansion of princes Rajewski in the Moorish style (now the building of the sanatorium "Karasan").
