In Amsterdam, the capital of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, there is a very unusual and interesting Museum is the Museum of bags.
There are only three such Museum, and Amsterdam is the largest. It contains more than 4,000 exhibits. This tiny handbags, huge bags, and wallets, and pouches, and the pads. About 30 years ago, the art dealer Hendrick Ivo was fond of collecting vintage handbags and purses. Very soon her collection consisted of more than 3000 bags, and Hendrick decided to present the collection to the public. The exhibition was a success. At first the Museum was housed in two rooms in a Villa in Amstelveen, then the Museum moved into the historic building on the shores of the most prestigious canal Amsterdam – Herengracht.
In addition to the main exhibition, the Museum hosts various exhibitions. The collection continues to grow, the Museum buys antique bags and gets them as a gift from contemporary designers.
